Why buy earrings, when you can make them? This half-day workshop will see you create your own sterling silver earrings – guaranteed you'll never see another pair quite like them!
Where: Kyneton, Daylesford/Macedon
Bec de Podolinsky is a jeweller who also teaches jewellery-making and runs Make Your Own Silver Jewellery workshops from her purpose-built studio, located high on a hill in Kyneton. Workshops run year-round and participants travel from across Victoria to attend these unique classes. Bec loves sharing her skills with students and helping them to make stunning pieces of silver jewellery.
Spend half a day making a pair of sterling silver drop or stud earrings to take home and wear. You'll sit at a traditional jeweller’s bench and learn to use a range of tools including a jewellers saw, files and soldering torch. You will also learn techniques including doming, texturing, polishing and finishing. We finish the class making shepherds hooks or earring posts, and learning to solder them. You'll also learn to use a rolling mill to emboss patterns into the sterling silver using leaves, lace, fabric, wire onion bags, mesh, feathers, leather or you can use one of our selection of patterned rolling plates. You can see the kinds patterns you can emboss using a rolling mill on the Pod Jewellery Rolling Mill Embossed Jewellery Pinterest board.
The fruits of your labour
At the end of this fun class, you’ll take home your beautiful handmade sterling silver earrings. We'll enjoy a gourmet morning tea as well as tea/coffee during the workshop.
