Watercolour Illustration Workshop: Ink and Watercolour Wash

 Join local artist Linda Newton in this full-day drawing class where you learn to outline your sketches before using watercolour pigments to fill them with colour!

The plan

Linda is known for her quirky yet incredibly detailed paintings and drawings and in this intensive workshop, she will show you how she creates her birds and dogs including how she creates movement in her characters and develops personalities.

You will then be guided in how you can add dimension and drama in your composition by adding a watercolour wash to your work. Linda will go over the basics of using watercolours and the effects that can be achieved with a variety of brushes and the finishes that can be achieved with different techniques.

The fruits of your labour

Each participant will be provided with a kit to use during the workshop and take with them to continue their artistic journey at home. Your kit is valued at more than $80 and will include:

    Zig Kuretake Watercolour Set - incl. 14 high pigment paints, water brush pen, waterproof 0.3 black fineliner2
    2 x Watercolour Brushes
    A4 Watercolour Pad


A delicious lunch will be provided created from all local organic produce and we are able to cater for any dietary requirements you may have. We will also provide you with a divine afternoon treat. Tea and coffee facilities are available throughout the course.

The kit required

You don't need to bring anything. Everything is included and lunch is provided.

Linda Newton is a Central Victorian artist who creates spontaneous nature-inspired artworks often featuring birds and other native animals each with a character that lifts off the page. Her own relaxed style carries over into her teaching meaning that classes with Linda are tailored to the skills and interests of the participants on the day.

A belief that art can be accessible to all shapes Linda's teaching style, and a warm and inviting classroom environment can be expected by all participants.
