This is a half-day guided hike taking in some of the most beautiful areas of the Mount Buffalo plateau. We walk off the beaten track to explore some of the rocky outcrops which give fabulous views over the surrounding valleys.

Where: Bright, High Country

#onehourout

The plan

We depart from the centre of Bright around 8.30 am and drive up to the plateau of Mount Buffalo. Mount Buffalo National Park is one of the oldest in our country and home to some unique plants found nowhere else in Australia.  This is a fully-guided 12 km hike on well-graded trails.

Enjoy a gourmet Hedonistic Hiking picnic lunch en route and, in the afternoon, there is the chance to continue walking, relax and have a swim in Lake Catani or see the iconic Mount Buffalo Chalet before returning to your accommodation. We will return you to Bright at approximately 4 pm.

The fruits of your labour

Close to Mount Buffalo are the wineries of the Ovens Valley and King Valley - home to many Italian varietals and particularly well-known for its production of Prosecco.

You will have the chance to taste local wines and enjoy them with a delicious al fresco picnic which will showcase the best produce from the region.

We can cater for dietary requirements but must know 48hrs in advance.

The kit required

Good walking boots/shoes. Must have good grip and ankle support.  Water bottle - 1 litre. Layers of clothing are recommended and hat, gloves and a waterproof jacket - we are at 1600 metres and mountain weather is subject to sudden changes.

Walking poles can be useful. Remember sunglasses and sun protection.  A small rucksack to carry above items.
