Marlene Hoff – otherwise known as the 100 Mile Foodie – is all about keeping it local. She uses only sustainable, ethically made products and food produced or grown within 100 miles of her location. She and her team offer catering, special events, cooking workshops and private dinners out of two locations, South Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula. Marlene believes people want to know where their food comes from, how it was farmed, and whether it’s seasonal – and she’s happy to help them learn all about it.
Oskar Lindback is a home-brewing legend with over 20 years' experience. Oskar has a real skill in producing exciting, unique flavours out of a standard home-brew kit and even grows his own hops at home!
Your Beef and Beer Masterclass will start at the Hillock Downs Produce Store – a repurposed old dairy – with a couple of beef-brisket brioche sliders stacked full of hot, delicious beef from Hillock Downs Farm. These little beauties are served alongside a home-brewed beer tasting with Oskar, and followed by made-on-the-farm chipolatas and the beer of your choice. Then Hillock Downs farmer Eddie will take you on a tractor tour to see how that delicious beef is farmed. Returning back to the hundred-year-old dairy, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work with chef Marlene from 100 Mile Foodie. Marlene will guide you through the secrets of flame, time and char to produce a perfectly cooked piece of meat. Complete your masterpiece with fried onion rings, crunchy potatoes from nearby Hawkes Farm, a few mind-blowing sauces – and it's time to eat! Have another home-brewed craft beer while Oskar guides you through the secrets of successful home brewing, answering questions along the way. Round out the day nicely with a dessert of local Sunnyridge Strawberry Farm strawberries macerated in Harts Farm white balsamic vinegar.
