Who needs a celebrity fragrance when you can have your very own? Learn about fragrance families, the perfume pyramid and scent profiling in this workshop where you create your very own custom eau de parfum.
When: 2pm to 4pm
Where: Sweet Fern Fragrance Boutique, Ballarat
While most kids tried their hand at running lemonade stalls to make a few dollars, our expert Kate Robinson tried selling fragrances made from boiled flower petals. While her first venture might not have been quite as successful as she hoped, the love of fragrances endured, until in 2014 grown-up Kate opened Sweet Fern in Ballarat.
Thankfully, this second, award-winning venture has succeeded beyond her girlish dreams. It has attracted huge interest with its perfume master classes, serene and delightful ambience, and wide range of exclusive fragrance brands including Cire Trudon, Fragonard, House of Lubin and Penhaligon – as well as the full Aesop range.
It’s been years in the making, and driven by countless requests: Sweet Fern’s first perfume-making workshop! This hands-on, two-hour workshop includes a brief history of perfume, covering raw materials, synthetics and naturals, and where they fit in modern perfumery; an introduction to individual scent profiling, exploring your likes, dislikes and curiosities in the world of fragrance; and the ‘perfume pyramid’ – the role of top, heart and base notes.
Then Kate will guide you through an exploration of fragrance families and a selection of over 50 professional-grade essential oils, aroma accords and blends, which you will use to create your very own custom perfume blend. The workshops are limited to eight participants to ensure an intimate experience.
