Please Note:
Masks are currently required to be worn during creative workshops in Victoria. LBE is ensuring the highest level of COVID safety by sanitising all workspaces and tools, adhering to social distancing regulations and ensuring the health of all staff prior to shifts.
The plan
You will be guided in the basics of glass working, including breaking, shaping glass and refining pieces with grinders to create your own unique fused glass homewares.
Working with glass pieces, frits, powders, stringers, and beads you will create and glue your designs ready for firing onto appropriately sized bases of glass for the projects to ensure a solid finished piece after firing. Depending on designs, skills such as bending and shaping stringers, cutting glass and creating layering effects can be taught one on one during the session.
A range of ceramic moulds for shaping platters will also be discussed and you can choose to shape your artwork into a functional dish or leave flat as a piece of art. Each piece will then be put through our kiln 1-3 times depending on the desired finish and shape of your piece.
As the kilns take time to heat and cool, the glass projects will need to be collected after the class, dependent on the amount of work in the firing queue platters can take up to 2 weeks to be completed.
This class is suitable for beginners - no experience necessary. This is an adult workshop and is suitable for ages 16+.
