The plan

Following a strict gluten-free diet is currently the only management strategy for Coeliac Disease (CD). For someone living with CD, this is not a fad diet but rather a complete lifestyle change as part of their Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). This can be at times confusing or overwhelming, or maybe you have questions but you’re not sure who to ask.

If you’re new to a gluten-free diet or just want to enhance your understanding for effective management, join Accredited Practising Dietitian, Alexandra Baker, for a real-talk workshop (including a Q&A) where we will discuss the key things you need to know when eating gluten-free.

Some of the handy topics we will cover include:

• What Coeliac Disease is and why strict gluten avoidance is the only management strategy,
• What you can actually eat! We will break down which foods are actually gluten-free,
• Australian regulations for declaring gluten in products and how to read food labels,
• Substituting products when you’re cooking,
• Tips for eating out,
• Nutrition strategies to ensure you are meeting your body’s nutrient needs.

We believe that food and eating should be enjoyable so we will share some of our favourite gluten-free recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with some sweet treat recipes that definitely don’t taste like cardboard!

Finish the workshop by preparing and sharing a couple of these favourites!
