Why buy earrings, when you can make them? This half-day workshop will see you create your own sterling silver earrings – guaranteed you'll never see another pair quite like them!
Where: Kyneton, Daylesford-Macedon
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendees must be outside the Melbourne Metro region. Driver's license or equivalent must be shown on the day.
Spend half a day making a pair of sterling silver drop or stud earrings, or a pendant to take home and wear. No previous experience necessary.
You'll sit at a traditional jeweller’s bench and learn to use a range of tools including a jewellers saw, files and soldering torch. You will also learn techniques including doming, texturing, polishing and finishing. We finish the class making shepherds hooks, earring posts or a bail, and then learn to solder them.
The fruits of your labour
At the end of this fun class, you’ll take home your beautiful handmade sterling silver earrings. We'll enjoy a gourmet morning tea as well as tea/coffee during the workshop.
The kit required
All tools, equipment and materials – including sterling silver – are provided, but you will need to bring a bring a pen and paper so you can make notes, and an apron to protect your clothing. For safety reasons, please wear closed-toe shoes and natural fibres, if you can. Long hair should be tied back. Bring reading glasses if you normally wear them.
Bec de Podolinsky is a jeweller who also teaches jewellery-making and runs Make Your Own Silver Jewellery workshops from her purpose-built studio, located high on a hill in Kyneton. Workshops run year-round and participants travel from across Victoria to attend these unique classes.
