The expert
When Prue Simmons stumbled across the craft of SAORI weaving in a tiny mountain hamlet in Japan, she was instantly hooked! A decade later, Prue is one of only three accredited SAORI weaving teachers in Australia, and has her own SAORI studio – Dyeing To Weave. Prue spends her days sharing her love for this Japanese style of weaving and its unique philosophy. She loves starting people on their own SAORI journey – as well as being a full-time Mumma and llama farmer.

The plan
Discover the easy and meditative art of Japanese SAORI weaving in this fun and creative class. Learn the unique Japanese SAORI philosophy along with some basic weaving techniques to create your handwoven scarf, wall hanging or table runner. No previous weaving experience is necessary – you will learn everything you need to know on the day, and start weaving your own piece straightaway! The workshop will take place amidst the 'Celebration of SAORI' weaving exhibition in the beautiful Goldfields township of Clunes, so there will be plenty of amazing woven pieces around you for inspiration.

The fruits of your labour
By the end of the four–hour class you will have a gorgeous handwoven piece to take home and cherish.

The kit required
All materials are provided and the looms are threaded up and ready to go, so there's no need to bring anything – just your enthusiasm for experimental creativity!
