Learn the art of carving and shaping wax to create your own unique ring. Once you have the knowledge, lost wax carving is something you can continue from home without the need to purchase a lot of expensive tools after the workshop. You can also apply the skills you learn in this workshop to carve brooches, earrings and pendants. You will receive making instructions, a list of tools and where to buy them, and all the information required to get your pieces cast. PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS HELD OVER TWO HALF-DAYS. On the first half-day you will work with wax to carve your ring. The wax rings will then be taken to Melbourne to be cast in silver (included in the course cost) or gold (at an additional cost). We will gather again for a half-day session one week later, to finish off our rings. Note that if you'd like to make a ring band, you may want to consider the one day Silver Ring-Making Workshop. This workshop is super fun and no previous experience is necessary.
The fruits of your labour
A gourmet afternoon tea (with gluten-free options) will be provided on both days, along with unlimited tea and coffee. At the end of the course you will take home your finished sterling silver ring (a ring weighing up to 15 grams in sterling silver is included in the workshop fee).
The kit required
All tools, equipment and materials (including 15 grams of sterling silver) are provided. Bring a pen and paper so you can make notes. Written instructions, a list of tools and a list of suppliers are included. If you would like to make a heavier ring, you can pay for the extra silver, which will be charged at cost price.
