Spring harvest is the perfect vehicle for an Ottolenghi feast. Come and join Yarra Valley cook Caroline Gray in her home kitchen, where you will help prepare a long lunch of Ottolenghi-inspired treats.
Time: 11am to 2pm
Where: Healesville, Yarra Valley
Caroline (aka Caro) is a Yarra Valley legend who has put on Ottolenghi feasts for many lucky Victorians, from cameo appearances at Mac Forbes’ Graceburn Wine Room to many private and corporate catering gigs. For the past few years Caro, with her passion for Ottolenghi, has been a regular feature at cooking schools around Melbourne, sharing her understanding of wholesome, real-food cooking. Caro now brings her wealth of knowledge and experience to you, at her own home food studio, down in picturesque Healesville.
In this hands-on workshop, Caroline will share some of her favourite Ottolenghi vegetarian recipes and demystify the unusual and often long lists of ingredients. Most importantly, you'll get to eat all the dishes prepared.
The plan for this workshop is for you to come away feeling confident in undertaking new recipes, namely those from Israel-born, London-based chef Yotam Ottolenghi. His food is as delicious as it is beautiful to look at. Clever use of spices, with influences from the Middle East to Asia and beyond, peppers the vegetable-laden share-plates that have become his stock-in-trade. His UK restaurants and cookbooks have elicited cult followings: Caroline is a big fan, and has traipsed the width and breadth of London to eat in his eponymous restaurants. Her copies of his books are battle-scarred.
