Where: Departs Ballarat, visiting a number of venues around Daylesford and the Macedon Ranges.

The Expert: So while you are sampling, smiling and sipping your way around the beautiful Macedon Ranges and Daylesford delights, who's hands will you be in exactly? Meet Lizzie... Originally from Scotland where Lizzie first became a tour guide, showing people around her home country (mainly Ozzie's) she has since worked as a walking tour guide in Toronto, Canada. And after moving to Australia in 2013 she acquired her heavy vehicle licence and started working as a Tour Guide, leading day tours to the Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island, the Grampians and the Yarra Valley. She still works as part of the team at Get Lost Travel Group in Melbourne. However she loves Ballarat and the surrounding area, and firmly believes that while Melbourne is of course a huge tourist destination, visitors will be delighted by venturing a little further and checking out all the wonderful sights and produce on offer around Ballarat. She is passionate about showing all the wonderful parts of this region to visitors, or even helping locals discover some hidden gems they didn't know about! So you can rest assured that not only are you are in very good and knowledgeable hands while on tour, there will be plenty of fun thrown in as well!

The Plan: The Macedon Ranges is home to a plethora of hidden gems! In a bush setting this is not your normal wine region. Spend a day exploring this boutique area, unlocking some of the best cool climate wines and discovering delectable local produce, all while meeting the makers and the farmers who make this region so special! As a volcanic environment, the area is rich in produce, farms & vineyards, with a stunning backdrop to match the mouthwatering treats on offer. Departing Ballarat, either from your hotel or the train station, we head out to explore this beautiful backyard!

The Fruits: Start the day off in style by sampling the extensive range at St Annes Vineyard, and check out this beautiful building. Then some refreshment as we travel through the bush of Wombat State Forest where a local brewed tea or coffee is included. We pass Trentham Falls, stopping in for pictures (weather permitting!) on the way to another award winning winery for tastings of the cool climate wines. A scenic drive takes us to Daylesford Cider Company for a delicious and wholesome lunch, their seasonal menu provides fresh and locally produced choices for everyone, with dietary requirements being gladly catered for - please advise at time of booking! Once we have tasted their fabulous cider and admired the beautiful grounds we then head north of Daylesford for some mouthwatering and FairTrade chocolate treats. Through the Mineral springs region, we finish up at Captain's Creek Organic wines for a tasting and to hear about the organic wine making process direct from the producers. Drop off back to your hotel included.

The Kit: Weather appropriate clothes and flat shoes recommended. Spending money for any extra goodies you wish to purchase.
