Provenance Wines Old World Vs New World Shiraz Masterclass. Held in our River Room, overlooking the beautiful Buckley Falls on one side and our boutique winery on the other. Participants will taste wines of age, youthful beauties, old world wines, new world wines and even fizzy. Join our experienced winemakers as we celebrate the mighty Shiraz grape!

Scott Ireland began establishing Provenance Wines in the mid-1990s, connecting a patchwork of small local vineyards under the one umbrella. Vintage 2006 saw Sam Vogel come on board to help with winemaking duties. A decade later Sam stepped up further, taking a share of ownership in the business. The pair's dedication has resulted in accolades aplenty for this unique winery: including gold wins at the Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat wine shows, being awarded Gourmet Traveller's Star Cellar Door, and scoring the James Halliday Wine Companion 2019 Best Value Winery title.
Join us at our heritage listed cellar door and winery at 11:30am to taste the delicious delights of our Shiraz wines. All weekend a rotating list of special bottles will be available to taste in the Cellar Door. We also have a fantastic Old World Vs New World masterclass on both Saturday and Sunday for those who want to sit down with our Winemakers and learn more about the different styles of Shiraz (booking essential). So much wine so little time, however, we are but a short Uber ride from Geelong Station.
After the Masterclass has finished participants are encouraged to sit down and enjoy the majestic Barrel Room and Cellar Door at Provenance whilst enjoying cheese and charcuterie platters with Provenance’s award-winning wines.
The fruits of your labour
Guests will be trying wine from the Rhone Valley in France (old world) and from Provenance (new world). There will be a range of Shiraz's on offer with guided tastings from winemakers, Scott and Sam.
The kit required
Bring some comfortable clothes and a clean palette, a pen and paper if you wish. This masterclass will begin at 11:30 am and guests are invited to stay for lunch and try some of our fantastic charcuterie boards.
